Friday, yesterday, we all woke up ridiculously early to go visit the famous porcelain factory of Sevres. It is the place where all of the state services were made, from The Sun King to Sarkozy. However, our professor was out of the country and our reservation got mixed up. So instead of seeing the factory, we got a guided tour of the ceramic museum right next door. Despite the fact that that was not what we were supposed to see, it was really really cool and interesting. They had a huge collection of the history of ceramics, and of Sevres, as well as many contemporary pieces. Later that evening we all went out to Le Crocodile for some drinks. We decided to order a round of absinthe. But it was delivered in shots, instead of the traditional way of drinking it. So, needless to say it messed me up pretty bad... Maybe later in the trip I will seek out the real stuff and drink it properly, but my first experience with it was anything but pleasant. So today I woke up at 7 to go to the market, but was more drunk still than hungover. Walked around and bought my beautiful produce, but the smell of the fish stalls was making me ill so I went home. Had a breakfast of very friendly bread, then passed out. Basically had a lazy day recovering from both the absinthe adventure and my non-stop week in Paris. Then this evening we all picnicked under the Eiffel Tower. It was so much fun and really great that we were all together. Went out for some drinks afterwards but Lauren and I made it an early night because we need to wake up early tomorrow: French Open final! Plus it started down-pouring so a warm bed sounded really nice.
